tre trau

“Trẻ” means “the young”, “the children” (as an adjective it means “young”).

“Trâu” means “buffalo”. There is a saying in Viet Nam “Đàn gảy tai trâu” to talk about those who are pig-headed and never consider others’ opinions or advices.

For people outside of Vietnam, Tre Trau/young buffalos describe the young punks who race their motorbikes on circuits around the city. Crazy culture, always really exciting to see.

They don’t wear helmets, they run from cops. Really awesome outlaw culture in Vietnam.
